Use GUNK in a spray can, Spencer. Then after you have hosed the engine off and let it dry WELL, brush on two coats of Penatrol. Penatrol is made by Flood, and can be purchaced at Lowe's. It comes in a quart can for about $11.00. A quart will do about 4 small (i.e. 1 1/2 HP) engines.

The answer I remember hearing most was diesel fuel; after getting off the worst of the crud and dirt by gentle scraping. But, because I have early onset CRS , I am not sure of that answer. Does that sound right?
