I have used one very similar to this. It was probably made with the same basic components. It looked they cleaned up and re-purposed the brass buzzer parts from an old Model T coil but used a nice new modern high tension coil inside. I could not tell if the coil was made for the application or was intended for some production engine. It had the core exposed and extended on one end so that it could protrude up through the wood cover to be in close proximity to the steel disc under the buzz points. It worked quite well with 6V and produced a very hot spark. I would not hesitate to use them again.
