I am still new to the OBD 1 tester. Still trying to understand the
procedure of the running test. I suck at understanding written
instruction but I can catch demonstration instantly. The problem with
written instruction is its written by people intimately familiar with
the procedure so important minor details get glossed over. But I will
try to do it tomorrow. I do remember Ford is great for using the
fiber or plastic timing gear and it likes to wear along with chain
stretch. I plan to do a chain and gear set on it as soon as I get the
other problems ironed out.
I am going to investigate the EGR solenoid tomorrow. It may have a
leak. If the EGR is not opening due to not enough vacuum from the
solenoid at higher rpm the timing is then wrong for the resulting mix
of combustion gas. This could create the P I Ping I am hearing under
acceleration. If the solenoid is leaking it would also explain the
stumble. Will have to check it out. My poor old 93 had 260K on it
and running strong. I had planned to take it to at least 300. But the
inner body was getting really rough. Thanks, Mark
