Thanks for the warning.  I had heard that so that why I am asking for further advice before attempting anybodys ideas.

Sel members.

I don't believe it has been mentioned yet but make sure the charger is 
turned off and DO NOT CREATE ANY SPARKS or other forms of ignition around 
the tops of the batteries. The gas given off is hydrogen. I have seen 
pictures of the tops of about 25 cells blown off when the technetium made an 
error.
