Subject: [SEL] Flood and 1.5 HP Economy

Hi All,
Some of you saw the 1.5 (1914) Economy engine that I picked up at
Portland. It had much original paint, but was in need of a good cleaning
before putting it on the repro cart that I also picked up. While talking to
Paul Gray he mentioned a product that he had used on several engines that he
had done recently. The name of the stuff is "Flood" and you can get it at
Lowe's. It's about $10.00 a quart (and a quart would have done the entire
Austral, had I used it on that engine.) I was thinking of using the 50/50
mix that Arnie uses (I believe it's 50% kero and 50% KY JELLY) but Flood is
permanent, and Arnie tells me that he has to use his mixture every time out!
In any event, after some cleaning with gunk and a nylon brush I put a coat
of Flood on the hopper. I'm real pleased with the stuff!
	Dave
