Tom:

The Land Rover Discovery we have is rated at 3500lb trailer weight,
and has handled the Ruston engine on our existing trailer to Nuenen
last year, we will have added about 3/4 of a tonne to that total
weight with the new trailer. We have never used low range in the
transfer box, the car handles the weight well in high range. It's a 4
litre (240cu in) V8.
