Curt,

I thought you were going to say that Ann couldn't take showers anymore because Mike had taken the blue tarp they had been using for a shower curtain to cover one of his engines!

Tim,
There is indeed an ordinance in Shelby on the number of blue tarps allowed
on a given property. However, given that Mike is a politician/councilman
he just conveniently raises the maximum allowable number when his count of
blue tarps approaches the previous maximum.
Truth is, control of this ordinance was the primary reason for his entry
into politics. It wasn't bad enough that there is a sea of blue tarps in
the back yard, but due to his never ending devotion to engine hobby work
and neglect of house maintenance, he's had to resort to a patchwork of
blue tarps on various locations of his house roof. It wasn't so bad when
the tarps were on the back side of the house protecting the Model T and
the kitchen cabinets from drips, but when he began draping them over the
top of the roof making them visible to the rest of the neighborhood the
complaining began. Lately I've noticed that Mike is perfecting the art of
"shingling" blue tarps, allowing him to purchase the less expensive 10 x
10 Walmart tarps, yet he can cover VERY large portions of the roof with
this method.
I read in the local paper that Mike's latest city council proposal to
standardize the roof color of all Shelby homes to blue has not been met
with much enthusiasm. Most see it as his thinly disguised attempt to avoid
house work. No doubt his wife Ann is quite pleased that his roof color
proposal was dead on arrival.
And speaking of Ann, sadly she is the victim in the blue tarp saga. She
can no longer take a shower if it is raining outside, because no amount of
hot water will offset the cold rain than comes thru the roof directly over
the shower. Mike keeps promising to install a blue tarp over that area
too, but so far is neglecting her needs (poor choice of words-but
applicable).
So now you know the whole saga. Really quite sad isn't it.
Curt Holland
