True, it would be out of the way.  But, to help a friend, why not,
everybody needs an engine to play with at Portland.

As I see it from Baraboo to Portland via the Southern route is 452 miles.
Baraboo to Ann Arbor is 429 miles.
Ann Arbor to Portland is 187 miles.
So it would really be only 225~ miles extra.
