[SEL] Galloway's decompressor hand valve

Here's another engine with a decompressor valve,  although not with a check valve.
This is my 1910 Ceres (French) engine.  The valve sits on top of the cylinder above the exhaust valve.

You can press down on the top of the decompressor which opens a valve in the decompressor unit.

Not really sure how it is supposed to be used.
