HIGH VOLTAGE to the black wire.  Where the angle worms come out of the ground is the break.  I did this as a kid but don't remember the voltage and we used a long electrified spike.

High tension lead off a buzz coil to the black wire.  As you know this radiates RF energy which an A.M radio tuned to an off station will pickup and convert to audio.  Maybe the audio will deplete as you go past the break.

All kinds of brain farts this mornin', eh?
