[SEL] Witte engines

Hey folks,
 
December issue of GEM has a letter from the Witte engine company dated  
1907. In that letter it notes:  Steel Balanced portable engine and Farm  
Balanced portable engine.  What is the difference in "Steel" versus "Farm"  
balanced?  Was the steel balanced more precisely balanced with inserts in  the 
flywheels (as in vehicle rims with weights) versus the farm balance was just  
in the casting of the flywheels?
