Tom,

Recheck the cylinder head for a serial number. I've seen the serial number stamped on the cylinder head around the 12 o'clock to 1 o'clock area near the head gasket.

Just a guess but the extra bolt holes in the engine base could have been for mounting an air starter pump.

I couldn't find any serial #'s on it.  

 

Now that I have it at home I could take better measurements and the bore is 8 1/2" with 54 1/2" X 4 1/4" flywheels

Any ideas what bolts on in front of the fuel pump.
