Hi, John.
Read the papers and keep an eye peeled for schools that are putting on
carnivals, communities that are hosting heritage fairs, or car clubs
that are doing charity fundraisers. Call the organizers, tell them
about your historical and educational displays, and tell them you'd
like to participate.
Just be an eccentric guy bringing an engine to an event, perhaps with
a couple of your mates, and forgo the formalities that accompany the
activities clubs and organizations. Be a freelancer... a rogue... a
renegade... a free spirit. All it takes to show an engine is the
engine, a can of fuel, a squirt of oil, and a desire to be the center
of attention.
If none of the above are possible, hunt down an administrator from
your local school and make them an offer. Over here, our schools are
squeezed for cash, and welcome free additions to their curriculum.
I'll bet you could do a song and dance that would keep the kids
interested for 15-30 minutes. Multiply that by several classrooms full
of kids, and you then have a captive audience for the better part of a
morning or afternoon.
Good luck.
Rob
