Hi All,
         Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I'll be looking at the 
problem this weekend.

         Now that the thread has changed to Tinnitus - I have suffered from 
it for quite a few years as well. It's worse in the morning and much worse 
if I have a hangover :-).

         The buzzing on the phone is not tinnitus !!
