Hi Luke,
Those photos really send a chill down my spine. it looks like that was a pretty nice collection before the fire. I notice one crawler in there, is is a BO Lindemann? Someone will want that one for parts, they are a neat little rig. I have a friend who has one, I look like a bear riding a tricycle when I get on it.....
I once got a couple of 1-1/2 hp M's given to me that had been through a fire. The oilers were melted, the EK's were toast (literally) and all of the springs were shot. The solder joints on the fuel tanks were melted apart. I spent a winter on them and a bundle on parts, but I was amazed at how easy they came apart. Every stud in the block came right out but every time you removed a fastener, you got a nasty burnt smell.
I have heard horror stories about engines that had been in a fire, and I think it is a real "pig in a poke" when you buy an engine in a fire.
