[SEL] Vertical Ideal question

Hi all.
How do you check for the correct oil level in the crankcase of a 2-2 1/2
hp Ideal  vertical air cooled engine?  There is a stand pipe coming out
of the crankcase with a cap on it, but where should the oil level be?
