Dave,
	You'd be surprised at people's reasoning for doing the things
they do.  I remember when one gent shot another in the head.  Luckily it
didn't kill the other guy (in fact, it never even knocked him out).
When asked why he pulled the trigger (both were very intoxicated at the
time) he said "well, we were talking about which one of us was a better
shot and he told me I couldn't hit the side of a barn from 50 feet, so,
I took about 20 paces from him and proved that I could".  The biggest
"fear" involved here came from a bottle!
