[SEL] question about oil engines

Hi, John.
Clerk is not easy to read, but he knew a lot of stuff.  It's  
interesting that he differentiated fuel by where the crude was pumped  
out of the ground e.g. Russian, North Sea, etc.

It seems the "Cross-Channel" engine rivalry was going strong in the  
early days.  Clerk wrote that although Diesel was on the right track,  
Diesel didn't understand WHY the high-compression engine had the  
potential to be better than other engines of the time.  It seemed a  
rather harsh comment to make!
