[SEL] Hemphill Diesel School Book

Hi,
A good friend recently gave me a book from the Hemphill Diesel Training School, dated 1936. I would like to scan it and place it on my website (1020titan.com) for free downloading, but am wondering if there is a better way than making .pdfs with Acrobat.
So, my question is.... what method would you suggest? Scanning as images or pdfs or what have you?
I would greatly appreciate your input.
