Gday Andy

Looks like you still need more info on your pumper. I've got one of these and a few other Buzacotts. This's my .02.

The 2 pumpers that I'm aware of that also had Wico EK's fitted are Buzacott and Southern Cross. The SC's look top have the EK on the RHS as looking at the flywheel (Kindschi, Vol 1 pg 115), Buzacotts on the left (like mine). Don't think a F&J ever had an EK fitted. Could be wrong -- never seen one but. So you've prob. got a Buzacott.

Now the serial Nos. My several Buzacotts/rosebery's of various models seem to follow a simple sequence irrespective of the model type. I'm not in my shed, but my pumper is 9xxx so would put it about 1930, rotary mag 2A at 5xxx so 1925, 2HP and 5HP V verts at 10xxx so 1933, a wico EK model 2A at 10xxx so 1930's, 4HP W vert 129xx at about 1936 etc.

So your flywheel you found at S/N 4121 is good and at about 1924 fits in well with 1923 the beginning of the EK mags. FYI, my Buzza has a small oval plate on the flywheel with I think (need to check) S/N in the arrow AND the crank hole cover in the side is made of sheetmetal NOT a casting. Might be a good guide. Hit me with your email direct and I can take some pics for you. Mine has the flywheel off at present due to crank bearings repair. I'm doing this by pressing out the whitemetal bearing (they're not poured in rough cast), machining in lathe then press in a bronze insert. Saves re-pouring whitemetal and having to line bore the crankcase (yuk) to keep it true.

Hope this helps , Graham in Melb.
