Hi Guys,
Sorry for the "off topic" but I've gotta rant to someone about
this - and you're it.
You may remember that my property was struck by a pretty severe
lightning strike in early January. I had to rebuild my computer and various
other things.
Well here's my experience - I was pretty broke at the time and
bought a low priced motherboard from the "local" computer shop. In the
past I've always gone for the best that I could afford but this time there
were "financial constraints" and I bought a "BioStar Motherboard".
WRONG MOVE - I had endless problems getting it going - it
eventually took over a month to get my system back to "working condition".
Most of the delay was due to this piece of rubbish BIOSTAR motherboard that
I bought.
I run a "Dual boot" system because some of my software only runs
properly on Windows 98. The specs on this board guaranteed Win 98
compatibility. NOT SO - it did not support USB in Win98 -(all O.K. in Win
2000.) and various other problems (too many to mention). BIOS flashes and
upgrades made no difference.
Well - 9 months down the line and plenty of problems later - it
has also blown my laser printer (Samsung ML1520). Today I went and bought a
new Laser printer and it's screwed that one as well.
I'm just writing this letter because Google seems to index these
lists quite well and I think I should put this on record.
DO NOT EVER BUY A "BIOSTAR" MOTHERBOARD - EVEN IF THE DEALER PAYS
YOU TO TAKE IT - MINE IS RUBBISH AND THE DEALER "MATRIX COMPUTERS, SOUTH
AFRICA' ARE NO HELP WHATSOEVER.
O.K. End of rant. Apologies - it boils down to "you get what you
pay for". "Pay peanuts - you get monkeys".
Keep the revs up (or down)
