The leather used in the vamp of boots make good leather cups for a  pump.  An 
outside form for your pump leathers can be fabricated from a  tube which is 
the same diameter as the pump cylinder.  A wooden dowel  shaped to be the same 
diameter as the inside diameter of the leathers  (there is usually a washer 
that holds the leather cup in place - use this  diameter for the inside form).  
Soak the leather in water.  Then force  the leather (with the smooth side 
down) into the outside form with the  inside form.  Then, let the leather dry.  
After the unit is dried,  trim the leather to height, punch the center hole, oil 
the cup,  and install it into the pump.
