[SEL] OT Dodge wiring problem

"Does this give anyone any clues?"

Yup. Maybe. This era Dodge has a problem with the main light switch if a trailer is pulled regularly, the truck doesn't have the tow package, and the trailer lights have been scabbed onto the wiring at the back of the bed. Apparently, the wiring is not of sufficient capacity to carry both truck and trailer lights, causing it to heat up. That causes resistance to rise and heat at the switch. Some RV'ers have countered by taking the trailer wiring to the front of the truck and using adequate gauge wire, some have had success by switching all the trailer lights to LED's, which take much less current.

Keep us posted.
