[SEL] Unique spark coil on R&V engine

Hi all
This engine is for sale, but have a look at the spark coil, does anyone 
recognise it, I do !!!

It is out of what is called an eddy current coupling/drive unit, you turn 
one shaft with an electric motor and the output shaft has no connection to 
the input shaft. As you apply current to the coil it induces a magnetic 
field into the rotor of the output shaft and it turns. The more current 
through the coil, the faster the output shaft, the difference from input to 
output speed is called the SLIP. Not a very efficient drive compared to 
modern variable frequency drives and the like, but simple and a simple 
control circuitry. The part in the picture here goes inside a drum with very 
small air gap.
I used to work on these on variable speed conveyor belts in the sugar 
industry, around 30hp. The larger units have a water cooled coil.
The coil is rapped around an iron circuit and that is all that is needed to 
create a spark when the ignitor point open. It would make a great sparking 
device and a great talking point as most people would have no idea what it 
is.
