Lets end this bullshit .....POME  can mean either  Prisoner of Mother 
England or it was a description of the ruddy [ pink] complexion of recent 
arrivals in Australia from England.They had a complexion that resembled a 
Pomegranite [fruit] .
Let me state here and now, four generations ago my ancestor was a POME 
...prisoner of Mother England.
