I think I woulda done writ $500,000 on the check and, after going to the bank with, would have escorted him to the courthouse to transfer it.

THEN, I woulda gone out and bought another one for less than 1/10th of that.  Woulda had most of the money and an AR!  I also coulda lied and said that the replacement was the "family heirloom".     :-)
