Hi Elden and others,

**********I Know that there are a few guys on the list who swear
that Maytags don't run but now you're saying that even a video of a Maytag
won't run - This is ridiculous !!!!! :-) <Just a joke>***********

I've had a few replies to this of guys having problems but
strangely some say that the .mpg of the Wolseley won't play and others say
that the "Windoze Media" file of the Maytag will not run. Others have been
able to play both or neither so it must have to do with the configuration
of individual computers. They run on all 3 of my machines on Windoze 98,
Windoze 2000 and XP.

This is the first time I've posted video to the net but think that
it may be to do with upgraded codecs that Windows Media player needs to
download. (Of course I do not expect guys to do this for silly little
videos posted by idiots (me, in this case)- working on engines is far more
important). So I'll experiment a bit to find the best format that will
work on anyone's machine.

One thing that does come to mind is that this was not saved as
"streaming video". Did you download it to your disk and try to play it from
there?

If anyone has more experience of putting small video files on
their sites please give me some tips (Lets keep it "Off List" and not
clutter up the list).

Here are how I made the 2 videos - if anyone can point me in the
right direction I would appreciate it. Both were filmed with my Fuji
Finepix digital camera and saved as .avi files.

1)The Maytag file <maytag1.wmv> was edited and produced on Windows
Movie Maker ver. 2.1.4026.0 standard with my version of Windoze XP 5.1.2600
Service Pack 2.
"Properties" Tells me that the Audio Codec is "Windows Media Audio 9
and the Video Codec is "Windows Media Video 9"

         2) The Wolseley file <wolseley.mpg> was edited produced using
Pinnacle Studio ver. 7.07.1. on another computer running Windoze 98 Second
edition using the mpeg codec. I have had this programme for a good few
years as it's what I use to edit video from my Sony Digital Video camera so
the codecs are probably older and more compatible on older machines.

Thanks in advance for any help and apologies to those who battled
with the existing files.

Keep the revs up (or down)
