 Ayup.  I had a 239 Ford (’54 ragtop) and a ’59 Rambler
Classic.  Had to put the switch in the
Ford; the Rambler would cheerfully wind far enough to engage the OD in
first.  The Y-block, due to its very
limited breathing, was far less fragile than the Chebbie.  Same deal with the nail head Buick; the tiny
valves limited engine speed before it could hurt itself
