Be careful using modern tables for early 1900's studs and nuts, the
materials used then were NOT the same strength!

Lister produced a table of torques for their earlier engines, and
these are valid for almost anything built earlier than 1930.

The table is reproduced on the end of the Lister Restoration and
Rebuild article on our website:

http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel/Articles/rrchapt8.htm

The top half of the table has values for Whitworth (Coarse) and BSF
(Fine) threads which cover bolt/stud diameters up to 3/4" Whit and
5/8" BSF.

Use whichever table is appropriate for the type of threads on your engine.

Metric torque figures are also included for completeness and for those
guys in Europe that don't have Foot Pounds on their torque wrenches.
