The governor is interesting. I gather it works by not allowing the intake
valve to open? My Australian made Bartram governs in a similar way although
the Ceres looks to be slightly more complicated and elegant. Both are
unusual.

Yesterday the crate I had shipped from Holland arrived!

In it was my 1910 5hp Ceres engine.  
This is a vertical French engine with an interesting hit&miss governor.

This makes the 3rd French engine that I have in my collection.

Just wondering how many other members of this list have French engines
and which engines do they have?

I have the above mentioned 5hp Ceres, a 3hp Thierry DUX, and a 5hp?

I know of a French Japy engine in California, but don't really know of
many other French engines in the U.S.
