I have 5 of the Nite Ize units. They work OK but you lose the focusing
ability. They also produce a bluish tinted light, that is more like a
floodlight. Wal~Mart carries the conversion kits without the rear
switch, Bass Pro Shops carries the one with the switch. The switch is
nice BUT you have to remember to leave the lens loose so that the
internal switch stays on.
If you want a real bright light they are not the thing. For that you
want the new 1 WATT LED Mini Mag that just came out. They are a bit
larger but DON'T look in the lens.
If you want a nice conversion for a full size Mag Lite, Mag has a 3 WATT
LED conversion bulb for 19 bucks. It allows you to focus and REALLY
light up the world. It works GREAT. I have 4 of them in the lights I use
for fire duty. They are nice because they don't blow when dropped and
they REALLY extend the battery life however when the batteries are dead
the light just goes OUT. Just make sure you get the correct one for the
light you have. They are NOT universal.
Nite Ize has a cheaper LED universal bulb for 2-6 cell lights but DON'T
bother with it. It is JUNK and provides less light than dead batteries
with the normal bulb.
