Hi Ed,
The "half moon" is called a woodruff key. A gib key is SLIGHTLY
tapered and has a raised part at the end against which a tapered wedge is
applied in order to remove it. Take a look at the pictures that Paul first
sent out (when this thread first

and you will see what a gib key looks like.
