[SEL] Need Spring Help

Bill,
I failed to mention that I was writing about compression springs and 
that the k-rate in those examples was compressive k-rate.
Tension springs, such as old style screen door springs are tension 
springs. You measure the tensile k-rate almost the same way, except you 
hang a weight on the spring, and measure the total stretch and divide 
that into the known weight.
Torsion springs and involute springs are a whole 'nuther ballgame......
