Yup Arnie, those are the yellow dogs. Missy and I are in the habit of
sitting in the driveway in the evenings after work and I having a beer
and Missy a mixed drink of some kind. The plan was to have the yellow
dog beside us, filled with teeky (sp?) oil that keeps the biting bugs
away. But ever since the blacksmith building went up, Devin borrowed the
yellow dog for lighting in his building. I offered to put up a lightbulb
in there for him, to which he replied in a very affirmative way, "I
ain't havin' no stickin' 'lectricity in a blacksmith building, the
yellow dog will do". What's a father to do, when a hip young lad
squarely rejects modern technology in his blacksmith building? .....I
bot him another bottle of teky oil.
As to the noise, the neighbors are pretty far away as the lots are
large. In addition to the nostalgia of the ringing anvil is the ever
present smell of burning coal in the neighborhood. Now picture this.....
Missy and I enjoying our evening drink (minus the yellow dog), with the
sweet pleasant aroma of burning coal in the air, the ringing of the
anvil, while we sit and watch Devin entertain us in the distance. Ahh
life is good!
