Referring to below - "this week's update" - just one?
As a government agency, we subscribe to alerts and lists that show of things
most folks at home will never see, and there were several patches to MS
products this week - from Exchange/Outlook to IE to Windoze XP to their 2003
server products and so on. We've had to do emergency roll-outs of patches
several times in the last month.
You could push an oil field engine through those holes..........
MS never has just a Maytag sized hole, they do it big when they do it.
That being said - unless you PATCH your operating system on a regular basis
- I do automatic updates every week (and hourly AV definition updates) the
antivirus can't do it all - and can't help if your OS isn't patched.
OK, back to fun stuff - supposed to hit 50 here this weekend - maybe some
real outside work finally!
You lucky southerners get to work on your toys year-round. We have to do it
when we can (unless we have the bucks and resources to heat our shops) so
I'm looking forward to some relief from cabin fever - plus finally getting
over whatever has kept me from feeling like even going outside for a couple
of months now.

>>Microsoft has not a good reputation for bullet-proof software, and this
week's update/patch (you did get it didn't you?) shows yet another hole for
hackers to exploit. THAT is why all these precautions are necessary, it's
not just us here banging the drum. I don't use any Microsoft software other
than the operating system and Office, everything else is from other places
of supply.<<
