I used to think most folks used winter time to restore old iron. Maybe they
still do and are too busy to post any engine related topics. Which leaves
the rest of us to keep the list chatting while waiting for some genuine 1
cylinder conversation. Hopefully the restorers are going to have some great
restoration stories to send to GEM, seems to be getting mighty thin these
days....... Y'all DO remember GEM, don't you? Before the internet we used to
write questions on paper, mail them in wait 3-4 months to get them
published, wait another month for people to mail us responses. Then there
were those long distance phone bills, calling parts suppliers, contacting
someone who had written an article about a piece of iron like we had and
maybe they could give us some info. etc.
Of course I needed some info on an 86 year old piece of iron in my shop. So
I emailed 2 people with unrelated questions and got an answer back in under
24 hours. How did I ever wait a month?
