Jeff,
Many of the WWII U. S. Navy fleet submarines used Fairbanks Morse opposed
piston diesel engines. They were 2 cycle with two crankshafts which were timed
together with a shaft. The upper crankshaft turned the scavenger blower and
the lower one turned the generator. The engine frame was made of welded
plates and after fabrication the assembly was annealed. If you would like
