I would guess that it is an engine, possibly with a swash plate instead of a
crank. If it was not an engine the buzz coils, spark plugs and the plug
leads would not be there.

The owner doesn't know what it came from, or anything about it.
Looks like something related to refrigeration to me, but I have no
idea of it's application.
