Tom,
    Check out ebay.  I'm surprise at some of the lathes on there and how 
reasonable some are (especially the older ones).  Be cautious though.  
If you found one for sale and it was within a hundred miles of you, I'd 
recommend that you take a look at it.  If they're complete worn out, 
you're about as well off sticking a piece of metal in your drill and 
holding it against your grinder.
