[SEL] O.T. Ignition switch.

Hi Dave, I've never worked on a Mazda ign switch before but it sounds like
any other I've worked on. Those "Rivets" should be what's left of the "Shear
Bolts", use a centre punch and tap them undone, there may be four of them.
With these removed I don't think you can remove the switch assemble while
it's still in the locked position, but you just might get away with it. With
the switch/lock all loose and hanging there try and unlock it while there is
no pressure on the locking pawl. To remove the "Barrel & Key" from the
Locking assemble, I think the Key has to be turned to the Acc position and a
1/16" drill bit pushed into a hole around the base of the lock, which should
release the Barrel. Failing that remove the whole steering column place it
on the bench, and cut the bastard off!, and trade it in on a Ford!

My daughter has a 1989 Mazda p/u B2200 that wont let the key turn. It
appears that something has jamed it up in the steering lock part. I pulled
the column covers off tonight and took the electric switch off the back end
of the switch but can't figure out how to take out the internal patrs. Looks
like it has been riveted to the upper half where it goes around the steering
column. Any help woud sure be appreciated.
