They have obviously improved them!  In the 1970's when I worked on
trucks in the UK, they were only up to 5/16" stem and ISTR only
approved for lightly stressed stuff, hence my comment. Most truck
makers in the UK at the time used rivets or fitted bolts.

Bedford for example used rivets for their spring hangers and
cross-members, but bolts for other parts. Scania used bolts almost
everywhere, with rivets for cross-members etc.,  the two UK
independents ERF and Foden used fitted bolts into close-tolerance
holes.

Nothing much left here in the way of truck makers, only a bit of
sub-assembly noe plus a few specialist assemblers.
