Centerville man trapped in tractor
By: 03/16/2005
CENTERVILLE - A rural Centerville man died of injuries received after he was trapped in a tractor.
Appanoose County Sheriff's deputies found Frank M. Eddy, 49, of rural Centerville pinned between the frame of a Honeybee tractor-loader and the sides of the loader arms.
Deputies received the call at about 3:45 p.m. Monday and responded to the Sidles Top Crop Co-Op south of Centerville.
Members of the Centerville Fire/Rescue Department had to use heavy extrication equipment to remove Eddy from the tractor. He was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital.
Deputies said preliminary investigation revealed that Eddy was moving an anhydrous ammonia trailer with the tractor-loader from nearby scales to a parking area.
As Eddy was parking the anhydrous ammonia trailer, he prepared to unhook the trailer from the tractor-loader and became pinned between the loader arms and the frame of the tractor.
The case is under investigation by the Appanoose County Sheriff and the county and state medical examiner offices.
