A sash cramp per se is a long steel bar (1.25" X 1/4") with drilled
holes in at regular intervals, say 2", and two moveable jaws, usually
with threaded jaw grip/tightening screws on one jaw, the other is not
adjustable, fitted with pins and holes, so you can adjust the length
coarsely with the pins in the long steel backbone part and then
tighten up finely with the screw jaw grips
