Today, I made a new crank for the Fairbanks Morseage ZD Status. Luckily, I
had part of the old crank (the end of the crank where it engages the
crankshaft was broken). More over, I was fortunate to have Rob Skinner's drawing
(_http://rustyiron.com/engines/stable/style-d-crank.gif_
(http://rustyiron.com/engines/stable/style-d-crank.gif) ) showing the dimensions of the crank. Using
this data, I built a fabrication jig to fabricate the crank. I was able
heat bend the new crank into the proper shape. The rotating handle part of the
old crank was removed. I used the old crank dimensions of the existing
handle slot to cut the slot in the new crank. The new crank looks very much like
an original. Anyone wanting pictures, please contact me off list.
Thanks Rob for sharing this crank information on your web site.
