[SEL] Are we all insane??

Hi List,
	Are we all insane or is it just me ??

	Last night I worked until 3.00 am in the cold of winter in my unheated
workshop, restoring an old fire extinguisher cannister that cost me less
than US$0.50 at a scrapyard. It was rotten, dented and had holes in it. I
had it sandblasted, welded the holes closed, fixed the dents and brazed 2
brass sockets into it. So far it has taken me about 6 hours and I have not
even got a coat of primer on it yet! 

	Oh yes - that 6 hours does not include the 4 hours spent before the
sandblasting when I copied the label and drew it on a graphics programme so
that I can have a new one printed when I am finished.

	Why, you may ask? Well it is an old one made in England in the 1950's and
is made with rivets and solder - not like the new ones that are all welded.
It is destined to be the water tank on the Ruston & Hornsby PT that I have
nearly finished restoring and has to go to a show on Saturday.

	I am also making a "toolbox"  (with dovetailed joints) from Oregon Pine
that it will mount on. This Oregon Pine has a history as well. In the 80's
I was doing building renovations and I replaced the oregon floor  in an old
building in central Johannesburg. The building dated to the early 1900's. I
used some of this wood in a ceiling in my house but subsequently removed
some of it and it is this wood I'm using for the toolbox. So it is over 100
years old and into it's third life now.

	I will put up pics in a few days when it is all finished.
