Hi Folks,
I received this reply from Ray Hooley regarding my question of a week or
so ago. So if one has a piston with the removable lands feature, it's an
early one and thus probably quite rare.
See ya, Arnie

Subject: RE: Fwd: [SEL] Hornsby-Akroyd Question
Hello Arnie. Yes, I am familiar with the use of removable piston lands.
Hornsbys used them for a period in the early development of the Hornsby-Akroyd
engines. It was a convenient way of varying the compression until they had
found the optimum - then they would produce a one-piece piston. I have drawings
of the various designs that they experimented with. Regards, Ray Hooley.
