[SEL] O.T. Mystery Clamps ??

They put me in mind of "sash cramps" - used in the construction of sash
window frames, and anything big in wood that needs clamping while the glue
in the joints sets off.  They are not like any sash cramp I have seen
before, though.  I wonder if they were used for bending wood?  It looks as
though both pieces have the facility to be retightened progressively during
the job.
