[SEL] OT - Church bells

This is completely OT but brings you down to earth a bit:

We had a phone call today from Shelton Parish Church, who we rent one
of the horses' fields from. After the usual exchanges of pleasantries
(Heather Wells has been our contact there for the past 12 years) she
mentioned that they were going to get their Church clock repaired, and
had also found out that their Church bell had been appropriated by a
neighbouring village (Hargrave) in the 1500's, and she had found
documentary evidence in the parish records of the event!

Now, we are pretty used to 'old' things related to the 1700's up to
the 1900's, but finding ordinary everyday records that date back 500
years is something which we found pretty special.
