Rick,
I'd be tempted to try the bbq regulator. they are cheap and I trhink can be adjusted somewhat. Even if you had to change a spring out it shouldn't be too bad. Keep us informed and be CAREFUL AND PLAY SAFELY.

propane. Seems I've heard that a kiln needs a different propane regulator 
than the normal barbecue one. As far as the air goes, I was going to use a 
heat gun as I can adjust the cfm somewhat on it.
