Have you thought about using Loctite for building a crankshaft?  Use hi-strength type 638 and when
it has cured, cross pin the joints with a taper pin.  Cleanliness is imperative.  Use acetone or
similar to clean the joint, make sure you don't touch the cleaned surfaces with fingers or
anything oily.

This method is used quite frequently when making model steam engine crankshafts up to quite a
large size.
